Golden 04:50
Golden When I burned the world behind me thought I’d never have my place finally I have come to find you When my heart felt so forsaken thought I’d never see my luck finally I have come to hold you When I fought a million battles thought I’d never feel at peace finally you have come to calm me I had gone astray, no landmark thought I’d be forever lost finally you have come to find me I want nothing more I could see the sun golden as it rose into the black sky
2.
A Slow Dance To Wild Music Fingertips to fingertips We don’t rush Subtle movements, tiny steps We don’t push Palm to palm, interlace We don’t rush Hands to neck, face to face We don’t push It’s a slow dance to wild music We take every second beat It’s a slow dance to wild music Close to meltdown, superheat Pulling close We don’t rush One step back, two steps forth We don’t push We don’t need no Faster heart rates It’s a slow dance To wild music Through the thick of Our exhales It’s a slow dance to wild music
3.
First To See The Sun We surf the waves rolling through the crowds under starry space the sea will spit us out it’s already late we’re stranded side by side so wide awake we are the first to leave the night I know a place where we could run to be the first to see the sun It’s still some time to roam the drowsy streets your hand in mine too shy, our eyes won’t meet too young a fling still I see the dark turn blue this is the thing waiting for the dawn with you I know a place where we could run to be the first to see the sun watch the darkness take a bow on the horizon set your gaze in my arms enjoy the show and the whole sky will be ablaze sun
4.
Parachute 04:03
Parachute When lights are low and I’m not at peace with my hair decide to quit it all ‘cause my crazy mind cannot bear any more that’s when you do the right things to me, love When I’m done and take the jump you won’t let me crash on the ground you’d pull a rope and on my back unfolds a parachute When walls close in and I lost my faith and belief decide to quit it all ‘cause my wretched old lungs cannot breathe anymore that’s when you do the right things to me, love
5.
Stay 04:06
Stay Won’t you come around here I don’t know what keeps you there What you don’t want me to see When it’s so nice over here Won’t you put up some speed I think it’s time you should know You’re not the one that I need But the one I really want is you Won’t you get a move on I have been waiting forever I don’t care how you come As long as you’re coming over Slowly I come undone Don’t wanna wait another day But if you have no reason to come Then it’s a good reason to stay How do I have so much left for you that I burn When you don’t have left a thing for me in return My world’s on fire and stops spinning when you are near Why don’t you stay right here? If you wanted me to pause I would pause But do you want me to? If you wanted me to stop I would stop But do you want me to? ‘Cause you’re always coming back And I fall Feels like you’re falling too ‘Cause you’re always draw me close I soften up Pour myself over you Won’t you make up your mind There’s a side to take on to Only so much to put up with Only so much to go through Slowly I come undone Don’t wanna wait another day And if you have no reason to come Then it’s a good reason to stay How do I have so much left for you that I burn When you don’t have left a thing for me in return My world’s on fire and stops spinning when you near Why don’t you stay right here? Don’t leave but stay right here.

Forget My Name Had to back out Of this magical but nameless game Too high the stakes Those who lose would win the mind insane If I set you free Would you remember me, Turn round, forget my name? If I gave you up Would you at times look back? Would we fade from memory? The songs we played Left traces, now they’re scars A fuzzy feel, Bitter-sweetest aftertaste I’ll always be Scanning faces in the crowd Anxious to see You’re staring right through me
7.
Blind 06:00
Blind We shot men unto the moon had people walk in space but still we couldn’t find a cure for when the hart turns blind Follow advice when to call back drink too much wine to bear it still we couldn’t find a cure for when the heart turns blind Safe my foolish heart set a fire to burn the clown I wanna be no more We built ships, travelled the seas sank to the ocean’s bottom still we couldn’t find a cure for when the heart turns blind We swallow pills to numb the feel distract ourselves from asking where to look to find a cure for when the heart turns blind
8.
The Black Of You Am I looking in your microcosmic soul? Am I gazing out into your vast universe? Staring you in the eye I could fall into the bottomless opaque I want to immerse into the black of you I want to dissolve inside the black of you I want to dwell inside the black of you I want to meet you in the black of you Staring you in the eye I could fall into the bottomless opaque A gap in the curtain that I’m peering through backstage I can almost tell someone is looming there Someone I have known for years looking back at me through the bottomless opaque
9.
Julius 04:36
Julius Julius, Can you feel the fire’s dying? Hold me close Pretend we never caught us lying Speak like we Had not unlearnt to speak our hearts out Faithfully I was a fool for your word’s comfort Oh Julius, Think of me when we are long gone Only us No other girl to spend your thoughts on Should I have told you I ‘d have really loved you Should I have told you all of that to save you? I let you strip me off my warmest coat I let you spread under my skin I offered you my unprotected throat I feared no loss And let you in
10.
Your Love Is My Cocaine My lover – well, are you still? I haven’t felt it for a while ‘cause it got silent around us; I can’t tell how much you care or care at all I do Lover – is that your name? Or has our road come to an end? Vainly I’m trying to read your mind ever so deaf, ever so blind Oh if you knew your love is my cocaine and how your presence makes me go insane I wanna make love to you wanna run away with you live in the woods with you in a little hut with you I wanna make love to you at the bonfire with you bathe in a lake with you under starry skies with you Oh if you knew your love is my cocaine and how your presence makes me go insane I wanna make love to you have a little boat with you at the coast of France with you quietly sleep in with you I wanna make love you until my senses fade with you until the curtain falls with you I wanna make love to you

about

Cologne, Germany-based indie pop duo Souvenir Season was formed in December 2013 by vocalist Sarah Wohlfahrt and composer Birger Nießen, crafting orchestra-driven, melancholy sounds that blend with electronic and acoustic elements, choirs and clear vocals alike.

Previous to the formation of Souvenir Season, Sarah and Birger shortly collaborated in a studio project in 2008. After its breakup both followed their own careers in different genres such as Jazz and Singer/Songwriter for a few years before they would meet again for a little studio session in mid-November 2013. Only a week later, on 1 December 2013, they released a demo recording of Parachute, which should hit a couple of hundred plays on Soundcloud within just a few hours. Amazed and fueled by the positive feedback, Sarah and Birger recorded more demos at Stereotunes Studios and released three more of them each following Sunday before Christmas, clearly on the way to a full-length album now. Five months and a hell lot of cake, laughter, a few great interviews, airs on a local radio station, and smooth work in the studio later the recordings to the album were completed.

With the ambition to play the music live, Sarah and Birger searched for musicians to support them on stage and found Salih Gülhan on bass and Jan Jaing on drums, both splendid on their instruments and as persons.

Parallel to rehearsing during the summer weeks and a first trial show at Live Club Barmen, Wuppertal, in September 2014, Souvenir Season launched a two-months crowd funding campaign through Indiegogo to raise money for the rest of the album’s production.
When on the one hand it felt a little like begging people to pre-order a pig in a poke, it was humbling to see people donate money, pre-order and leave Sarah and Birger in awe for their kind and supporting words on the other.

The debut album ‘Into the Black’, named after a line taken from the song ‘The black of you’, was then given into the hands of mastering engineer Andre Beatmunks for the mastering and Marcel Kamps took the band’s pictures and designed the artwork.

Within exactly a year Souvenir Season produced their debut album and released ‘Into the Black’ through the record label 38db(A) in December 2014.
